A Cleaning Routine for Busy Women (3 of 3)

Dirt Defense

You can keep your house cleaner by preventing outdoor dirt from getting in. Use doormats and boot scrapers. As needed, sweep sidewalks, steps and stairwells leading to your home.

If you have the space, set up a mudroom, where wet and soiled clothing and boots can be removed and stored.

To reduce airborne dust, regularly vacuum registers and radiators. Change the filters in your air conditioners and furnace, following the manufacturer's instructions. If you have severe allergies, hire a professional yearly to clean heating and ventilation ducts to reduce dust and molds.

Face facts girls! A messy house reflects on the working woman. I use all the "quick wipes" products for glass, furniture and bathrooms. The toilet wands are great, too. But family members who benefit from your income must do their part to help.

Why are these articles directed at Women??? Why are you
perpetuating the myth that women should work fulltime on paid jobs
then be responsible for the housekeeping too??? I am not inter-
ested in reading cleaning articles addressed to women rather than
adults, people or person. The writers at this website need to join
the current century- obviously you are lost in time. Brandy R.

I do not believe in scrubbing anything! For the bathtub/shower, I spray about 3x a week Kaboom or any bathroom soap scum tile cleaner. I spray down the shower in the morning and go to work, 8 hours later when I get home I rinse out the shower. Poof, my shower is clean and I never scrub a thing. The toilets, I throw a little bleach (keep the seat up) at night and in the morning when I wake up all I do is flush away the bleach and my toilets are clean...again never scrub. To clean under the rim, I will throw some bleach in the tank and when I flush, the tank water cleans under the rim. This helps me save time.

My idea of quick cleaning is to dust he major pieces of furniture, vaccum, and clean bathrooms, spray some air freshner and it's done. I try to do a bit everyday so there is the major cleaning that has to be done so often.I think it's instant gratification!

NO WAY...turn on the ceiling fans cuz u can't see rotating dust...spray a little Pledge to smell like you just dusted...shove everything under the bed or sofa and close the bedroom doors....THAT's how a real working mom does it!!!

For those mothers who spoil their children by not asking them to help out, just remember that one day they will be on their own, and won't have a clue as to how to clean their apt. So,let's teach them how, now, AND do yourself a favor, too...since they live in your house, they should contribute to its upkeep. Mom's aren't their servants. My sons are grown, still single and are pretty decent housekeepers and cooks. I have my own cleaning business, but I only use non-toxic cleaning products and I make $12 an hour using my products. I ask, why have clean homes only to die of cancer later on using the toxic stuff that's out there?!

as my husband says dont get a bigger house than you are willing to clean. i have a 5 bedroom 2 bathroom full basement house and i want a bigger house and he says who do you think is going to clean it. after a long discussion i no longer want any bigger of a house then the one we have when we sell this one . this one is a pain to keep clean 3 kids hubby and dog plus in and out guests of the kids and my brothers and my mother in law. but i cant complain about her because shes a true blessing she always helps me when the laundry is behind and even though i have a dishwasher if theres dishes in the sink she washes them by hand and cooks sometimes and cleans the stove and rearranges my closets and cabnets.. im very thankful to have a mother in law like her...

Kelvin if you 'clean a little every day and still spend half your weekend cleaning' and it's just you with no children or significant other then the mess is all on you bud. You either need to grow up and take responsibility for your living space OR hire a cleaning service.
