The World's Tackiest Hotel (We Love It!)

There are a lot of hotel rooms in the world, but each of the 110 rooms at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California is truly one-of-a-kind. Each room has a different theme--from "Pioneer America" to "Swiss Chalet." With details like red leather walls and showers carved from rock, and a steakhouse that looks straight out of the Old West, it's no surprise that the 50-year-old Madonna Inn is as popular as ever.

    Madonna Suite

The Madonna Suite includes a custom pink rose rug and a fireplace, waterfall shower and bathroom sinks all carved out of stone. One of the proprietors designed this room herself.

    Madonna Suite

The bathroom of the Madonna Suite certainly makes an impression. The sinks are carved out of native rock and the ceiling is, naturally, painted pink.

    Caveman

The decor in this room relies on animal prints, a rock pond and stone-age clubs. It also has a waterfall shower.

    Caveman

The Caveman room's bathroom certainly hearkens back to the stone age, except for that stained glass window featuring what must be the room's previous inhabitant.

    Austrian Suite

This 76-foot-long suite, reachable by an outdoor spiral staircase, has two separate balconies! The shower is--oh la la--made for two.

    Rock Bottom

This suite is meant to evoke an underground cavern. Its floor, walls and ceiling are made of stone.

    Gypsy Rock

The multicolored painted ceiling in the Gypsy Rock room reminds the hotel's owners of a gypsy's scarf, hence the name.

    Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae was a character in love with Li'l Abner in the 1934 comic strip. She's depicted in this suite in a stained glass window.

    Kona Rock

This room is an homage to the Kona Coast of Hawaii. It includes a stone fireplace, a pineapple chandelier and access to a secluded hilltop pool.

The Jungle Rock room includes tree-bark furniture and animal print accents. With two king-size beds, it can fit the whole family.

Beautiful, very tastefully done blending all the elliments. I love the stone bathroom most of all. I've never seen anything like this. How about showing more.

Hey AOL, you guys really need to look at a map. The Madonna Inn (and SLO) is nowhere near Yosemite National Park. Unless of course being in the same state is close...

Shame on you for calling the Madonna Inn "tacky." It is classy, original, and a treat to stay there.

There's such a closeness of the words Madonna and Madam, onw only has to see this to KNOW, in this case, they are one and the same.

the leather rooms looked dried up like the so called entertainer "Madonna'.

Yes the rooms are fantastic..We stayed in the Hawaiian room..all of the walls are rock since the room is built into the side of the hill. The shower is all rock as well..big fireplace that is real..not some silly fake gas thing stuck to a wall. The best thing is the Chocolate cake in the Restaurant...all of the food is great but they are known for their cakes..a must have...just amazing and huge.

Wow O.OThat is such an extravagant waste of money it nearly puts me into seizures. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but you should never spend that much on something so insignificant.

We stayed there and loved it. Our room was a cabin of a shio. People invite each other to see the rooms. Our friends had the one with the fat cupids hanging over the bed and was afraid it would fall on him. The big attraction is not n the hotel, Its the Bathroom in the gas station. There is a motion activated water fall for the urinal. Men were taking their wives and girl friends in to see it as soon as the coast cleared. and the bathroom was free. The rest of the hotel is really tacky too. Its all done with hot pink and gold trim. You can't help laughing, its such a fun place.

Sorry to say the Seal Beach Inn no longer exists. Was torn down to make room for condos in 2006. I guess I need to get back to CA once more to see what's missing.
