Scandinavian Design for the American President

Fashion designers may be lining up to outfit the new first family for the Inauguration, but furniture retailer IKEA has offered to redesign and furnish the entire White House for free, with IKEA products of course. Earlier this week, commuters in Washington, D.C.'s Union Station got an up close look at what the Scandinavian megastore has in mind for the American president at their Oval Office replica that was on display in the station. The public can also design their own virtual Oval Offices on EmbraceChange09.com.

Homes of Teen Stars

Hayden Panettiere, star of the hit show Heroes, moved out of mom and dad's house in 2008 -- in a big way!

Nineteen-year-old Heroes star Hayden Panettiere's $2.635 million home has just three bedrooms and three bathrooms, but an open layout with floor-to-ceiling windows and 180-degree views of Los Angeles. Perfect for visits from 31-year-old costar boyfriend Milo Ventimiglia.

Tween girls must be preparing a pilgrimage to Texas, after teen heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers purchased a home outside Dallas-Fort Worth. The brothers, Kevin, 20, Joe, 18, and Nick, 15, had to grant their mother power of attorney to buy the $2.8 million pad in July.

The boys' six-bedroom, 7,360 square foot bachelor pad is inside a gated community called "Vaquero" that they'll share with professional athletes from every sport -- including former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe and New York Yankee Mark Teixeira -- when they're done touring.

In October, 19-year-old High School Musical ingénue Vanessa Hudgens plunked down almost $3 million for a California mansion of her own! Keep clicking to see it.

Vanessa Hudgens' $2.75 million, 5,200 square foot Tuscan-style home in Studio City has six bedrooms, a home theater, a pool, spa, waterfalls, and cabana. She's not the only underage superstar making a hefty long-term investment.

New mother (and little sister to Britney), 17-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears stuck to her roots when she went house-hunting. Her modest home is only minutes away from her mom's. Click on to see it!

Jamie Lynn and her fiance Casey Aldridge purchased this four-bedroom home in Liberty, Mississippi, in June, just weeks before Jamie Lynn gave birth to daughter Maddie Briann. The covered front porch and big red barn out back are perfect for some Southern hospitality.

He may have stripped down in the Broadway play Equus, but he'll always be the boy wizard to us. Nineteen-year-old Daniel Radcliffe, the UK's richest teen, recently bought his own glass castle in New York City.

This is actually Radcliffe's second New York home, following his purchase of a $4.3 million loft in 2007 that he subsequently began renting out for $20,000 a month. This $4.9 million, three-bedroom apartment overlooks the Hudson River. When he's of age, Radcliffe can use the 500-bottle wine cellar.

Wow...could it be more hideous? It's gotta be a joke, right? Thank you, Ikea, but please keep your cheap krap. Let's see...this design is probably called "Nuvo Vomit".

I think they should leave it the way it is

Notice it says "Mock?" That means this is a joke. Relax people!

Notice it says "Mock?" That means this is for fun, not a real offer! Relax! I wouldn't mind a free make-over to my house from IKEA though!

The White House is full of historic and for the most part well mantained items. For a foreign company to come in and offer a free furniture is a slap in the face. If it were to be accpeted it's like putting a flag on the whitehouse that says United States of IKEA. BUY American!

Looks like crap...and that is probably what the new President will like. Just waiting to see and wondering which of his new cabinet will be the first to create a scandal, be indicted / arrested or go to jail. Not long to wait now.

Cheap! Cheap! Cheap! Looks like the common room at a municipal university, where the furniture begins to look worn out by the end of the first month! This is the Presidency, an honorable position, that is filled with history from the beginnings of our nation. Why treat it like dorm furniture? What national leader would be impressed to meet in this room? I don't think the Swedes or any other country would do this to their leader. We don't get something for nothing, and this would really demonstrate that axiom.Total thumbs down!

Take the offer. Won't be long and we'll have to turn the White House into low income housing anyway.

Looks way to womanish for the pres. Good grief I do hope he gets some say so in what is put in there. Although if he gets it for free he's off to a good start, with some change, in drapes and the desk at least that much.
