Supplies you'll need: scissors, solid matte gift wrap, tape, stamps, stamp ink pad

Cut a wide strip of solid matte gift wrap (matte paper absorbs stamp ink and dries quickly) about 2 inches shorter than the width of the box (you want to leave 1 inch on either side). Wrap paper around the center of the box and fasten with tape, then cut a narrower band and tape that on top. Embellish the band by decorating it with holiday-themed stamps. For friends and family members who are high on your gift-giving list, consider getting a stamp custom-made with their name on it (about $15) from your local stamp store - you can use it for years to come.

Supplies you'll need: Elmer's glue, watercolor brush, pinecones, acorns, glitter, wax paper, glue gun, branches

Thin a tablespoon of Elmer's glue with a small amount of water until it has the consistency of paint. Brush glue onto pinecones and acorn tops, then dip them in glitter. Let dry 5 to 10 minutes on wax paper. Using a hot glue gun, attach pinecones, acorns, and branches (snip some off your Christmas tree or buy glittered foliage at a craft store) to your present.

Supplies you'll need: color copier, photos, scissors, hole puncher, stamps, stamp ink pad, ribbon

Personalized gift tags add another fun layer to any present. Using a color copier, shrink a favorite photo by 50 percent to 70 percent (depending on how big a tag you want). Cut out the reduced image, punch a hole in one corner, add your message on the back, and fasten to the present. You can also transform plain shipping tags - we got ours from Staples - with decorative stamps and ribbons. (This is another great time to use your custom-made name stamp!)

Supplies you'll need: padded envelope, gift bags, round color-coding labels (34- and 14-inch wide), 12-inch-wide rubber bands, stamps, stamp ink pad

Use basic office supplies to add some holiday cheer. Create holiday designs (candy canes, snowflakes, or dreidels) on mailing envelopes or gift bags with inexpensive round colored labels. Or decorate wide rubber bands with stamps to make festive fasteners. Simply press the stamp straight down onto the unstretched rubber band and hold for a second or two for best results.
