Bring the autumn season into your home with these easy, do-it-yourself decorations
Fall-Inspired Decor
Display a colorful collection of fall foliage without making a pilgrimage to the forest. To create this reusable garland, you'll need: fabric scraps in harvest hues (pick up inexpensive "fat quarters," or quarter yards of material used for quilting, at any fabric store), fusible interfacing, and an embroidery needle and floss (also at the fabric shop), plus an iron and scissors. Sandwich interfacing between two matching fabric squares, and iron - this will give the leaves some stiffness. Snip out as many shapes as you plan to display. With the needle, thread the floss through the stem of each leaf; hang.

Turn a Thanksgiving tradition on its side with a cornucopia as door decor. Fill with floral oasis (from a crafts store), cut to fit, soaked in water, and wrapped in plastic wrap to prevent dripping. For the bountiful bouquet, use floral wire to wedge in stems of button mums, figs, mini eggplants, coxcombs, radicchios, grapes, eucalyptuses, or other seasonal flora (Jane Packer, of Jane Packer's Guide to Flower Arranging, made the arrangement in the photo). Mount with a wreath hanger.

This Turkey Day, look to your feathered friends for a tabletop trick. Pick up gold and silver braided cording and duck quills from a fishing outfitter or crafts store. Cut cording in 10-inch lengths, twist a few together, wrap around your napkin, and tie in back. Slip in plumes for an instant festive feel.
